You will get one more chance to be a command leader in the field and that is if your are an O4/LCDR and that will be another 2 years after that you will only be doing stuff at a TOC, at the Staff level, at the Pentagon, etc.....Your absolute total time to still operate and lead as an Officer in a Combat Environment on the ground with the guys is usually about 8 years and the average is about 4-5 years.
