How long could I keep a pistol magazine loaded without severe wear/damage to the spring and/or feed lips?
Leaving a magazine loaded is not what wears out the spring. It is the cycling (compressing and decompressing) that does the ultimate damage. Don't believe me, do some research on your own. There are G.I. 1911 mags known to be left loaded over 60 years that still function adequately.
That being said there are cheaper aftermarket mags out there that will wear out if you breath on them.
