Is every infantry man issued a sidearm and a combat/utility knife?
I am curious because both of these things seem to be absent in a lot of photos I see of soldiers/marines.
The answer is no, they don't get one.
Infantry may get bayonet, but NOT a utility knife.
As for sidearm, only officers get that, and Marine officers get M-4 instead. Spec ops troops may use a silenced sidearm for covert takedowns (remember "hush puppies"? )
